9th Convocation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Held

Peshawar: The 9th Convocation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar (SBBWUP) was held at the Convocation Hall, University of Peshawar. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chancellor of SBBWUP, Mr. Sohail Afridi, graced the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed degrees among graduating students.

During the convocation, 269 students from the BS four-year programs (sessions 2019–2023) were awarded degrees, while 40 students from MS/MPhil and PhD programs also received their degrees. A total of 41 gold medals were distributed, out of which 16 gold medals were awarded to students from the university’s affiliated colleges.

The ceremony was attended by the University Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, and Provincial Minister for Higher Education Mr. Meena Khan Afridi, along with faculty members, parents, and students.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Safia Ahmed (T.I) stated that the university faculty is committed to providing quality higher education while focusing on character building and grooming students to contribute positively to society. She highlighted the introduction of market-oriented departments and the provision of improved facilities across departments, with further expansion underway. The Vice-Chancellor also informed the Chief Minister about the shortage of funds, particularly for infrastructure and student facilities, and made a special request for the construction of a separate access road for the university.

In his address, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chancellor SBBWUP, Mr. Sohail Afridi, congratulated the graduates on their achievements. He said that the daughters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are second to none and emphasized empowering them through education and knowledge. Responding positively to the Vice-Chancellor’s request, he approved funding for the construction of the university’s access road and directed that work on the project should commence immediately.
