Barrister Saif urges Federal Govt to stand with Afghanistan in crisis

PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has urged the Federal Government to step forward and extend support to the victims of the recent earthquake in Afghanistan. He stated that just as Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has taken the initiative, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should also stand with Afghanistan in this difficult time. He added that Afghanistan is not only our neighbor but also a brotherly country, which is economically vulnerable.
Barrister Dr. Saif appealed to Pakistan and the international community to provide assistance to the Afghan earthquake victims, stressing that as neighbors and fellow Muslims, it is our duty to fully support them.
He informed that, on the directives of the Chief Minister, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has handed over 35 truckloads of relief goods to Afghan authorities at the Torkham border for the earthquake victims. The relief consignment included 500 winterized tents, 500 family-size tents, 1000 tarpaulins, 1500 mattresses, 3000 pillows, 1500 quilts, 500 blankets, and two truckloads of essential medicines. Afghan officials expressed their gratitude to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, for the timely assistance during this challenging period.
Barrister Dr. Saif further announced that additional relief consignments will soon be dispatched to Afghanistan. He assured that Afghan brothers injured in the earthquake will be provided free medical treatment in Peshawar as well as in hospitals across the province. He emphasized that Afghan brothers must not feel alone in these testing times, as under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands ready to extend all possible support.
He also offered prayers for the departed souls and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, while praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
