Govt Ensures Welfare and Security of Journalists: Secretary Information Dr. Bakhtiar Khan

“DG Information Muhammad Imran Khan Reaffirms Transparent Advertisement Policy for Newspapers”

PESHAWAR: Secretary Information and Public Relations Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Bakhtiar Khan, has said that the provincial government is utilizing all available resources for the welfare of journalists and the resolution of their problems. He emphasized that steps are being taken on a priority basis to address challenges faced by working journalists and newspapers, while ensuring greater transparency in the Information Department.

He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation led by President of Malakand Division Union of Journalists, Shahzad Alam. DG Information Muhammad Imran Khan, PTI leader Bilal-ur-Rehman, Dr. Masood Khan Afridi, and other notable figures were also present.

During the meeting, Shahzad Alam gave a detailed briefing on the issues faced by journalists in Malakand Division, including Swat. The delegation presented suggestions regarding advertisement distribution, timely payments, journalist security, training, and welfare schemes.

Dr. Bakhtiar Khan assured the delegation that advertisements are being distributed to all newspapers on merit, and the payment process is being completed on time. He added that the Information Department is being developed on modern lines to provide better facilities and ensure the safety of journalists.

He further stated that journalism is a vital pillar of democracy, and the government will continue to extend all possible support for the development and stability of this sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, journalists appreciated the government’s initiatives and expressed hope for the timely resolution of their problems.
