BAJAUR: In the past two days, police in Bajaur district have carried out successful operations that thwarted the designs of criminal elements. On one hand, a notorious drug dealer was caught red-handed, while on the other, a major attempt to smuggle arms was foiled. These actions have further strengthened public confidence in the role of the police. The first operation took place on September 11 in the Loi Sam police jurisdiction. Acting on a tip-off, SHO Sher Zamin Khan, under the supervision of Circle DSP Khar Abdul Aziz, conducted a raid and arrested the infamous drug dealer Aftab Khan while he was engaged in his illicit trade. The accused was immediately shifted to the police station and a case was registered. According to police officials, a strict crackdown is underway across the district against those who push the youth into the curse of narcotics, and no leniency will be shown. The very next day, September 12, Salarzai police achieved another major success. Under the supervision of Circle DSP Bakht Munir and SHO Badshah Rehman, police launched a timely operation that foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons. During the operation, six Kalashnikov rifles, one long machine gun (Saqeel), 35 magazines, and 900 cartridges were recovered. The suspects, however, managed to escape by taking cover in maize and sorghum fields. Police officials expressed confidence that the fugitives will soon be apprehended. District Police Officer Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, lauded both operations and commended the police teams for their efforts. He stated in clear terms that there is no place in Bajaur for drug dealers or arms smugglers. He further asserted that eliminating the menace of narcotics and illegal arms is among the top priorities of Bajaur police, and no compromise will be tolerated in this mission. The DPO also appealed to the public to extend their cooperation and promptly report suspicious individuals and activities so that the district can be made more peaceful and secure. According to the spokesperson for Bajaur police, these operations are clear proof that the district police are not only active against criminal elements but also working tirelessly to make society safer. Public circles have welcomed these timely actions, expressing hope that this momentum will lead the region toward a more peaceful future.
