PYONGYANG: Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Xi Jinping, said he reached important consensus with Kim Jong Un on advancing relations between China and North Korea in the new era during his state visit to Pyongyang.
Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Kim and his wife Ri Sol Ju, attended by Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan, the Chinese leader said the two sides held extensive discussions on strengthening bilateral ties and safeguarding peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Xi expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the DPRK leadership and people, noting that the visit had further deepened mutual trust and understanding between the two countries. He said the future direction of China-DPRK relations had become clearer and more defined, laying a strong foundation for enhanced cooperation in various fields.
The Chinese president emphasized his readiness to work closely with Kim to guide bilateral relations toward greater development and inject fresh momentum into the socialist causes of both countries.
Kim Jong Un, in his remarks, described Xi’s visit as a complete success, saying it conveyed a positive message to the international community about the growing strength of DPRK-China friendship and cooperation. He noted that the visit attracted widespread global attention and held great significance for bilateral relations as well as regional development.

Kim reaffirmed the DPRK’s commitment to implementing the important understandings reached during the visit and promoting practical cooperation to achieve new and tangible outcomes. He expressed confidence that relations between the two neighboring countries would continue to advance to a higher level.
Xi concluded his state visit to Pyongyang on Tuesday afternoon. Kim Jong Un and Ri Sol Ju accompanied Xi and Peng Liyuan to the airport, where a grand farewell ceremony was held in honor of the Chinese delegation, marking the successful conclusion of the high-profile visit.
