Rwanda High Commissioner Calls for Global Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

ISLAMABAD: H.E. Harerimana Fatou, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, participated as the Guest of Honor in the 2nd OICOA Sub-Committee Meeting on Strengthening Women’s Rights in the OIC, hosted by the Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (FOSPAH).

Addressing the meeting, the High Commissioner praised the efforts of FOSPAH and the Government of Pakistan in promoting women’s empowerment and advancing gender equality across OIC member states.

H.E. Harerimana Fatou highlighted Rwanda’s remarkable progress in empowering women and promoting inclusive leadership. She noted that Rwanda stands as a global example of gender equality, with one of the highest levels of female representation in parliament worldwide, reflecting the country’s strong commitment to women’s participation in decision-making processes.

The High Commissioner emphasized that women’s empowerment should not remain limited to OIC member countries but should be embraced as a global commitment. She stressed the importance of ensuring equal opportunities, rights, and participation for women in all spheres of life across the world.

The meeting brought together policymakers, parliamentarians, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for strengthening women’s rights and enhancing their role in social, economic, and political development.
