A Transparent Survey of Damages Must Be Conducted Before the Return of TDPs: Imran Maher

Report by Anwar Zada Gulyar

Bajaur: President of Inayat Qila Bazaar, Imran Maher, has demanded that survey teams be immediately dispatched to assess and compensate the damages suffered by Mamond TDPs, and that displaced families should be allowed to return to the cleared areas with dignity.
Addressing a press conference at Bajaur Press Club, Imran Maher said that investigations should be carried out against contractors responsible for distributing cooked food among the TDPs. He alleged that in many schools, the number of TDPs shown on paper is far higher than the actual number present, while contractors continue to receive payments based on inflated figures.
He further pointed out that even newborn and breastfeeding children are included in the family count of ten members, despite the fact that they cannot consume rice or bread. Yet contractors are still paid Rs. 350 per head for such infants, which he termed sheer injustice to the displaced families.
Highlighting the losses, Imran Maher said that many TDPs from Mamond have suffered damage to their homes, with broken solar panels and partially destroyed structures. He urged the district administration to send survey teams before the return of the TDPs so that fair compensation can be ensured. Otherwise, he warned, once people return and repair their homes, authorities may dismiss their claims, arguing that no damage had occurred.
