Pakistan is a free, sovereign, and nuclear-powered state founded upon the aspirations of its people, the supremacy of its Constitution, and national unity. From time to time, various forms of propaganda are directed against Pakistan with the aim of undermining its security, cohesion, and national integrity. In recent years, certain foreign elements and anti-Pakistan groups, some of which reportedly receive support and funding from external sources, have sought to create instability within the country. As part of these efforts, attempts have been made to portray Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as “occupied territories.” This narrative has been promoted through social media and other forums, while hostile forces continue to amplify such claims. However, when examined in light of constitutional realities and ground facts, these assertions are entirely inconsistent with Pakistan’s legal and constitutional position.
The reality is that Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are constitutionally recognized provinces of Pakistan, enjoying full legal and constitutional status under the country’s Constitution. The people of these provinces are citizens of Pakistan. They elect their representatives through democratic processes, have representation in both provincial and national legislatures, and actively participate in the country’s decision-making. Therefore, describing these regions as “occupied” not only distorts the facts but also advances a political narrative that contradicts Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Balochistan holds immense geographical, economic, and strategic importance for Pakistan. Rich in natural resources, the province plays a vital role in the country’s development and prosperity. Likewise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa represents a significant part of Pakistan’s history, culture, resilience, and sacrifices. During the fight against terrorism, the people of the province and the security forces made extraordinary sacrifices that are acknowledged and respected throughout the nation.
Those opposed to Pakistan have consistently attempted to create divisions within society and foster instability. At various times, differences based on language, ethnicity, or religion have been exploited to sow discord. In such circumstances, it becomes the responsibility of every Pakistani to demonstrate unity, solidarity, and national awareness, and to reject narratives aimed at weakening the country’s cohesion and security.
Political parties, parliament, provincial assemblies, intellectuals, journalists, and civil society must also adopt a clear and principled stance on matters of national interest. Democratic institutions, including the National Assembly and the Senate, should continue to affirm Pakistan’s sovereignty and constitutional unity so that the international community clearly understands that Pakistan stands united in safeguarding its territory, Constitution, and national interests.
Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees freedom of expression to every citizen. However, this right is exercised within the framework of law and constitutional principles. If any individual or group violates the law, incites violence, or acts against legal norms, the relevant institutions and courts have the authority to take appropriate action. In a civilized and democratic society, disputes and grievances are addressed through legal and constitutional mechanisms.
Today, there is a pressing need for the nation to rise above personal, political, and group differences and work collectively for Pakistan’s stability, development, and sovereignty. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are constitutional and legal provinces of Pakistan and will remain so. The proud people of these provinces are an integral part of Pakistan’s strength, dignity, and national identity.
No compromise can be made on Pakistan’s security, sovereignty, and national unity. National cohesion, constitutional supremacy, and the stability of state institutions are essential pillars of a strong and prosperous future. When the nation stands united, no conspiracy, propaganda campaign, or hostile force can weaken the foundations of Pakistan.
At the same time, the federal government and relevant institutions bear the responsibility of addressing the developmental challenges, needs, and legitimate rights of these provinces. Constitutional, legal, and economic rights due to the provinces should be ensured in a timely and equitable manner. Such measures not only strengthen national integration but also help neutralize attempts by hostile actors to exploit grievances. Strong, empowered, and satisfied provinces contribute directly to a stronger Pakistan. Conversely, if provinces remain weak or deprived, the country as a whole may become vulnerable to external manipulation and internal instability.
