PESHAWAR: Under the special directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, work on legal reforms to make the province’s justice system more effective, transparent and people-friendly is progressing rapidly.
In this connection, a key meeting of the special committee constituted for reforms in various laws was held in the Law Department’s conference room under the chairmanship of Law Minister Aftab Alam.
Senior officials and representatives of the Law Department and the Advocate General’s Office attended the meeting, where several important laws were reviewed in detail. The main objective of the meeting was to align the legal and judicial system with modern requirements to provide citizens with immediate, affordable and effective justice.
The committee deliberated on proposed amendments to various key laws. Members presented their suggestions and opinions, on the basis of which an initial draft of the proposed amendments has now been prepared.
The committee formed for legal reforms has been holding continuous meetings for the past 20 days to review different laws in detail, with the aim of finalising a comprehensive and effective reform package.
The draft of the proposed amendments will soon be presented to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and the provincial cabinet for final approval.
These reforms will prove to be a major milestone towards strengthening the rule of law in the province, ensuring timely delivery of justice, and establishing a modern, transparent justice system aligned with public expectations.
