LAHORE: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa swimmers delivered an outstanding performance on the opening day of the 1st All Pakistan Governor Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship, securing one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals to announce their arrival in style. The impressive medal haul reflects the province’s growing strength in swimming and has raised hopes for even greater success in the remaining events.
A 16-member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa contingent is participating in the championship under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Swimming Association Secretary Javed Marwat and Peshawar Division Swimming Association President Muhammad Arshad Orakzai, while Mubeen Ahmad Khalil is serving as the team’s coach, providing technical guidance and preparing the swimmers for the national competition.
Expressing his satisfaction over the team’s excellent start, coach Mubeen Ahmad Khalil said the swimmers’ remarkable performance was the result of months of dedicated training, discipline, and hard work. He added that the athletes are in excellent form and remain confident of winning more medals in the remaining heats and finals of the championship.
Javed Marwat, Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Swimming Association, praised the athletes for their determination, saying that the opening-day success proves that talented swimmers from the province can excel at the national level despite limited resources. He emphasized that providing better facilities and opportunities would enable them to achieve even greater milestones and expressed optimism that the team would add more medals before the championship concludes.
Muhammad Arshad Orakzai, President of the Peshawar Division Swimming Association, commended the swimmers and coaching staff for their commitment and professionalism. He said the medal-winning performance was the outcome of consistent preparation and teamwork, adding that the confidence displayed by the swimmers on the first day is an encouraging sign for the upcoming events.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa swimmers have also expressed their determination to maintain their impressive momentum and continue delivering strong performances throughout the championship. They are aiming to win more medals and bring further glory to the province at one of Pakistan’s premier age-group swimming events.
