PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Science & Information Technology, Dr. Shafqat Ayaz, has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has always maintained the stance that peace in the country can only be ensured through dialogue and negotiations. He stated that the solution to terrorism and extremism does not lie in bullets but in peaceful political measures, as the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can no longer bear further wars and sacrifices.
Dr. Shafqat Ayaz emphasized that military operations should always be considered as the last option, as it is the innocent citizens who suffer the most from such actions. He recalled that past operations displaced millions of people, destroyed schools, businesses, and livelihoods. Such mistakes, he said, must never be repeated.
Speaking about Afghan refugees, Dr. Shafqat Ayaz said the issue carries both humanitarian and security aspects. Law-abiding individuals should be given protection, while criminal elements must face strict action. Meetings with the Afghan ambassador and officials, he added, help reduce tensions, while improving relations with the neighboring country Afghanistan is the need of the hour. Traditional jirga mechanisms for establishing peace are also a positive step forward.
Dr. Shafqat Ayaz further said that the federal government cannot resolve this issue merely through statements; practical and peaceful actions are essential. PTI believes in wisdom and strategy, not emotional decisions. Similarly, if the TTP’s offer for negotiations is made with sincerity, dialogue should take place, as threats only worsen the situation. Political leadership and security institutions must jointly devise a comprehensive strategy.
He said that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, has always emphasized that every decision in Pakistan should be based on the Constitution and the rule of law. Imran Khan consistently speaks about the “rule of law” and advocates for working together with state institutions, as these institutions belong to us, and Pakistan is ours as well. Guided by this vision, PTI continues its struggle for peace, development, and justice.
Dr. Shafqat Ayaz clarified that allegations against PTI of politicizing such sensitive issues are baseless. He stressed that PTI’s sole objective is the safety of the people and sustainable peace. Without peace, neither the economy can improve nor can development take place.
Highlighting regional stability, he stated that peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan is inseparably linked. Instability in Afghanistan directly impacts Pakistan, which is why both countries must take steps to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation.
In conclusion, Dr. Shafqat Ayaz assured the people that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf stands firmly for peace under all circumstances. In every decision, the interest of the people comes first. “We want to see Khyber Pakhtunkhwa progress and prosper as a center of development, not become a battlefield of war,” he affirmed.
