UPPER DIR:
Chief Secretary KP, Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police Zulfikar Hamid visited Dir and met with a QAUMI jirga at the District Council Hall Dir here on Thursady. CS praised the locals for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the police against terrorism.
The Chief Secretary announced that the three civilians who were martyred during the recent anti-terrorism operation in Upper Dir would be given the same package as the police personnel, amounting to PKR 100 million each.
Shahab Ali Shah commended the bravery and courage of the people of Dir in fighting against terrorism and appreciated their support for the police.
The IG Police stated that modern arms and equipment would be provided to the police force to combat terrorism effectively.
The locals demanded that they be provided with arms permits and licenses to defend themselves against terrorists and maintain peace in the region.
The meeting was attended by national and political leaders, including Najmuddin Khan, Inayatullah, Tariqullah, Tehsil Chairmains Rafiullah, Shah Wali khan, Mian Sultan Yusuf, Said Anwer khan ,Malik Jehan zeb kohistani and others.
The Chief Secretary Shahab Ali shah and IG Police Zolfiqar Hamid assured the locals that their cooperation would be sought in the fight against terrorism and that they would be provided with necessary support and equipment. The government plans to provide modern and secure police vehicles to the Dir police force.
A sum of PKR 10.5 million has been allocated for the renovation and improvement of police stations and posts in Dir.
The locals demanded that they be provided with arms permits and licenses to defend themselves against terrorists.
They emphasized that they would not allow their people to be forced to migrate and would take all necessary measures to protect themselves and their region.
