PESHAWAR: Renowned singer Rahim Shah on Sunday called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House and discussed promotion of Pashto music, culture, local festivals and positive engagement of youth.
During the meeting, Governor Kundi said preservation and promotion of the province’s language, culture and literary heritage were among his priorities. He said every possible step would be taken to promote Pashto music and culture so that the younger generation remained connected with its traditions.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sohail Kundi was also present on the occasion.
The Governor said the shrine of renowned Pashto Sufi poet Rahman Baba deserved greater attention, adding that preserving the legacy of the province’s poets, writers and artists was a shared responsibility. He said art, culture and music played an important role in promoting peace, harmony and brotherhood.
Rahim Shah suggested organizing cultural and music shows in colleges across the province to provide youth with opportunities to showcase their talent. He also stressed the need to further promote local festivals and cultural events.
He said he had worked throughout his career to introduce Pashto language and music at the international level and emphasized presenting the poetry of great Pashto poets in modern musical compositions to connect it with the younger generation.
At the end of the meeting, Governor Kundi presented a commemorative shield to Rahim Shah in recognition of his services for the promotion of Pashto music and culture.
