PESHAWAR : The 7th Meeting of the Senate of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan was held today, Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. in the Main Cabinet Board Room, Wali Khan Block, Civil Secretariat, Peshawar. The session was chaired by Mr. Meena Khan Afridi, Minister for Higher Education, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Chairman of the Senate.
The Senate reviewed and approved nine key agenda items aimed at strengthening the university’s governance, financial planning, academic momentum, and long-term strategic direction.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan (Vice Chancellor, UET Mardan), Dr. Ambar Khan (Secretary, Higher Education Department), Mr. Fazal Hussain (Special Secretary (HED)), Justice (R) Irshad Qaiser, Prof. Dr. Sadaqat Jan (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Computing), and Prof. Dr. Imran Khan (Pro-Vice Chancellor, UET Mardan). Representatives from the Human Resource Department and Finance Department also participated, along with other distinguished Senate members.
The Senate:
• Confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewed the progress on earlier decisions.
• Approved Budget Estimates for FY 2026–27.
• Approved the Annual Report for Academic Session 2025–26.
• Endorsed the Financial Resource Development Plan.
• Approved the Five-Year Strategic Plan (2025–2030).
• Considered and approved proposals from the Senate Standing Committee regarding amendments to the UET Mardan Statutes.
• Reviewed the Terms and Conditions of Contract Employees’ Statutes (2024).
• Deliberated on matters related to the GP/CP Fund.
Senate members commended UET Mardan for its continued strides in academic excellence, research and innovation, quality assurance, digital transformation, infrastructure development, industry collaboration, and student development. The Senate recognized the university’s ongoing efforts to expand academic offerings, strengthen research culture, improve quality standards, and implement initiatives designed to elevate UET Mardan as a leading engineering and technology institution in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Meena Khan Afridi praised the university’s leadership and faculty for their dedication to institutional excellence. He stressed that higher education institutions must ensure their academic and research priorities remain closely aligned with emerging technological trends and the socio-economic needs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan, Vice Chancellor UET Mardan, expressed gratitude to the Chairman and Senate members for their guidance. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to implement the Senate’s decisions fully—advancing academic quality, research excellence, innovation, financial sustainability, and good governance for the benefit of students and society.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolve to continue strengthening UET Mardan as a progressive institution dedicated to excellence in engineering education, impactful research, innovation, and sustainable national development.
