MULTAN: Secretary Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) Zulfiqar Ahmed visited Mukhtar A. Sheikh Hospital in Multan, established with the support of the Workers Welfare Fund Islamabad, to review healthcare facilities being provided to industrial workers and their families.
He was received by the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dr. Rana Altaf Ahmed, and senior officials, who briefed him on the hospital’s performance, healthcare services, achievements and future expansion plans.
The hospital administration informed the Secretary that registered industrial workers receive up to 90 percent subsidy on treatment, diagnostic tests and other medical services. A dedicated Workers’ Facilitation Desk has also been established to ensure prompt assistance for beneficiaries.
During his visit, Zulfiqar Ahmed toured various departments and expressed satisfaction with the quality of healthcare services. He urged industrial establishments to provide complete and accurate data of their workers so that more employees could benefit from WWF welfare programmes.
He said the vision of Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain is to provide workers across Pakistan with world-class healthcare, education and welfare facilities. He added that the Workers Welfare Fund is committed to implementing reforms in its educational institutions, medical colleges and vocational training centres to bring them in line with international standards.
Later, the Secretary visited Fatima Fertilizer Company, where he was briefed on employee welfare initiatives by General Manager Administration Brigadier (Retd.) Ubaidullah Anwar. He appreciated the company’s efforts and reaffirmed WWF’s commitment to expanding welfare initiatives nationwide.
Addressing the occasion, Zulfiqar Ahmed said, “When workers prosper, the nation prospers,” adding that the Workers Welfare Fund would continue working to improve healthcare, education and welfare services for workers and their families across Pakistan.
