PESHAWAR: Imran, son of Naveed, a political and business personality, was seriously injured in an attack allegedly carried out by unidentified assailants after he uploaded a video on social media in support of security institutions.
According to details, Imran was walking home yesterday when two unidentified motorcycle riders, whose faces were covered with masks, intercepted him. The attackers allegedly assaulted him with pistol butts and questioned him as to why he had uploaded a video on social media in support of the security institutions, claiming that the security forces were their enemies.
The assailants allegedly threatened and assaulted him before firing shots into the air. They warned Imran that he would be killed if he uploaded such videos again.
He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.
The attackers fled the scene after the incident.
The well-known business and political figure has reportedly faced attacks in the past as well. Speaking about the incident, Imran said that he had no personal enmity with anyone and believed that the attack was linked to a video he had recently uploaded in support of the security institutions and against terrorists.
A report of the incident has been registered at the concerned police station, and police have launched a search for the unidentified attackers.
Due to repeated attacks and threats, Imran has reportedly gone into hiding along with his family.
