PESHAWAR: Abdullah Nawaz won the inaugural Shams-ul-Qamar PSA Satellite International Squash Tournament, defeating Shamlan Gul 3-0 in the final at the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex, Qayyum Stadium.
Abdullah dominated the final, winning 11-9, 11-2 and 11-9 to claim the title in straight games.
Senior Vice President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association Ehsanullah Khan was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Squash legend and former world champion Qamar Zaman, world No. 2 Mohib Ullah, KP Squash Association Finance Secretary Wazir Muhammad, Olympian hockey player Rauf Khan, Asian squash champion Aamir Atlas Khan, chief organizer Munawar Zaman, physical trainer Fazal Khalil, coach Muhammad Wasim and others attended the ceremony.
The guests congratulated Abdullah Nawaz and appreciated the organizers for providing young players with an opportunity to compete at the international level. They said such tournaments would help promote squash and develop emerging talent in the province.
Trophies and prizes were distributed among the top performers at the closing ceremony.
