PESHAWAR: All candidates contesting the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) elections for the 2026-28 term have submitted their nomination papers, marking the formal entry of the election process into an active phase.
According to initial information, around 59 candidates have submitted nomination papers for the Associate Class, while approximately 35 candidates have filed papers for the Corporate Class. The final and separate figures for both categories are expected to be confirmed tomorrow.
The election campaign is currently gaining momentum, with both major groups actively mobilizing their supporters and candidates.
One side of the electoral contest is represented by the group associated with the late Senator Ilyas Bilour, led by his son, Ghaznfar Bilour. The opposing side is represented by the Peshawar Business Alliance, with Syed Ali Shah and former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali playing a leading role.
Leaders of both groups remained actively engaged in election-related activities throughout the day, meeting candidates and providing guidance regarding their respective campaigns.
All candidates submitted their nomination papers before the prescribed deadline of 2:00 p.m.
With the completion of the nomination process, the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Elections 2026-28 have formally entered the electoral phase. A closely contested election is expected between the two major groups, with both sides gearing up for an active and competitive campaign.
