PESHAWAR : The Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Forum, in collaboration with the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, organized a prestigious ceremony in which 12 talented women who have rendered distinguished services in various fields were presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards. The ceremony also featured the launch of “Hum Se Hai Yeh Zamana”, a book authored by Bushra Farrukh, Chairperson of the Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Forum, writer and recipient of the Presidential Award.
A large number of prominent figures from Peshawar’s academic, literary, social and cultural circles attended the event. Speakers appreciated the struggles, services and achievements of women, saying that their outstanding performance in different fields despite difficult circumstances was a source of pride for society.
An emotional moment came during the ceremony when tribute was paid to the late Dr. Parveen Azim for her services. Her Lifetime Achievement Award was presented by Gandhara Medical University Vice Chancellor Ejaz Hassan Khattak to her daughter, Maryam. Participants recalled Dr. Parveen Azim’s academic and social services and expressed their grief over her passing.
The ceremony was moderated by Rabia Tabassum. Ali Haider Baba Khel, Chief Executive Officer of Buraq Builders, was the chief guest, while Dr. Hussain Chaghomi, Director of the Cultural Center, hosted the event. The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Yawar Naseer, followed by a naat written by Bushra Farrukh and recited by her daughter, Tabinda Farrukh. The guests were then welcomed and Bushra Farrukh was congratulated on the publication of her book.
During the award ceremony, Fatima Afzal, Principal of Smart School, received her award from Professor Dr. Zubair Shah. Rani Andaleeb and Iffat Siddiqui were presented awards by Ibrahim Kamal of GMP TV, while Faiza Shehzad and Rubina Moeen, District Nazima of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League, were honoured by Professor Dr. Abasin Yousafzai.
The award for Maryam Bibi, head of Khwendo Kor, was received by former provincial ombudsperson Rakhshanda Naz from Dr. Shaheen Umar, Principal of Frontier College for Women. The award for Aftab Iqbal Bano was received by Dr. Khadim Ibrahim from Majid Baloch, Deputy Controller of Radio Pakistan. Rabia Tabassum was also presented with an award, while businesswoman Nilofar Sami was honoured by SMEDA Director Rashid Awan.
Syeda Atiya Parveen and Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Forum Chairperson Bushra Farrukh were presented with awards by former Radio Station Director Mushtaq Shabab. During the ceremony, Dr. Hussain Chaghomi and chief guest Ali Haider Baba Khel also addressed the gathering. The Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Forum presented shields to both personalities, while the shield for Media Reflection Chief Executive Officer Zaka was received by his sons.
A particularly beautiful moment came when members of Karwan-e-Hawa performed “Hum Maaen, Hum Behnein, Hum Betiyan” for the women present in the hall. The performance added further emotional depth to the gathering.
Later, Dr. Roshan Kaleem, a member of Karwan-e-Hawa, presented flower garlands to the award recipients. Lunch boxes were also distributed among the guests.
A large number of personalities from different fields attended the ceremony and appreciated the Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Forum’s initiative to recognize women’s contributions and encourage their positive role in society.
