KARAK: The Civil Defence Department Karak conducted a comprehensive Fire Safety and Awareness Session at the Old Campus of Khushal Khan Khattak University, aimed at improving safety awareness and equipping university staff with essential skills to respond to fire emergencies.
Senior university officials, faculty members and supporting staff attended the session. Dr Rafi Ullah Khan, Director Administration, appreciated the Civil Defence Department’s initiative and stressed the importance of stronger cooperation between the university and the department.
Kashif Nawaz, Civil Defence Officer Karak, said further safety and awareness activities would be organised in collaboration with the university. He added that student volunteers would also be enrolled and trained in the future to promote emergency preparedness.
Adil Wazir, Senior Instructor Civil Defence Karak, conducted practical demonstrations on fire control and extinguishing procedures. Participants were briefed on different types of fires, the proper use of fire extinguishers and suitable extinguishing agents, including for chemical and hazardous-material fires.
Dr Muhammad Zubair emphasised the need for regular safety training, awareness programmes and practical drills in educational institutions.
The Civil Defence team also provided recommendations on emergency exits, fire extinguisher placement, fire alarm systems, safety inspections and emergency drills. The university administration appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to future safety training and emergency preparedness programmes.
