TOPI, SWABI: Pakistan’s youth have achieved a significant milestone in semiconductor technology, with more than 50 percent of trainees from the Digital IC Design and Verification Training Programme 2026 at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) securing jobs in the semiconductor industry.
The closing ceremony of the training programme was held at GIKI, with Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry attending as chief guest.
Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan, President GIKI, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector GIKI, and other senior officials were also present.
Launched on May 18, 2026, the national initiative initially enrolled 40 trainees at GIKI. Following its expansion to other institutions across the country, the programme has trained a total of 160 participants nationwide.
The achievement of over 50 percent job placement among GIKI trainees highlights the impact of specialised technical training in preparing young professionals for employment in the emerging semiconductor sector.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal said the initiative was not merely a training programme but a foundation for Pakistan’s semiconductor future. He emphasised that Pakistani youth could compete globally when provided with the right opportunities and skills.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates among successful trainees. GIKI leadership reaffirmed its commitment to equipping Pakistan’s youth with advanced technological skills and preparing them for careers in the semiconductor and technology industries.
