Waseem’s 89, Falak Noor’s Hat-Trick and Sagar Kalyan’s 80 Highlight Action-Packed Round

DUBAI: Gulf Giants Development moved to the top of the points table in the fourth edition of the DP World ILT20 Development Tournament after a thrilling round of matches at the ICC Academy, Dubai, where four teams secured victories.
Gulf Giants Development, MI Emirates Development, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Development and Dubai Capitals Development all registered wins as the race for the semi-finals intensified.
With all teams having played four matches, Gulf Giants Development lead the standings with six points. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Development, Sharjah Warriorz Development, Dubai Capitals Development and Desert Vipers Development have four points each, while MI Emirates Development have two points.
Muhammad Waseem’s explosive 89 off 48 balls powered MI Emirates Development to a 32-run victory over Sharjah Warriorz Development. Waseem smashed seven fours and five sixes as MI Emirates posted 177 before being bowled out in 19.5 overs. Zahoor Khan contributed a quickfire 22.
In reply, Harpreet Bhatia scored 51 and Luqman Faisal added 38, but MI Emirates’ bowlers dismissed Sharjah for 145 in 17.3 overs. Ibrahim Masood claimed three wickets, while Vishnu Sukumaran and Zahoor Khan took two wickets each.
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Development recorded an emphatic 88-run win over Desert Vipers Development, powered by Falak Noor’s sensational six-wicket haul. Knight Riders posted 196/8, with Usaid Amin scoring 41 and Muhammad Aftab Alam contributing 30.
Falak Noor then claimed 6/15, including a hat-trick in the 14th over, as Desert Vipers were bowled out for 108 in 15.5 overs. Nilansh Keswani top-scored with 35.
In another encounter, Dubai Capitals Development defeated Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Development by three wickets. Knight Riders were dismissed for 123, with Tahir Zaman taking 4/16. Dubai Capitals chased down the target in 19 overs, finishing at 125/7. Raees Ahmed remained unbeaten on 44, while Akshdeep Nath scored a rapid 22.
Earlier, Gulf Giants Development defeated Sharjah Warriorz Development by 21 runs to secure the top position. Sagar Kalyan smashed a remarkable 80 off 33 balls, including eight fours and five sixes, helping the Giants post 203. Junaid Shamsu added 30.
Sharjah Warriorz fought back through Luqman Faisal’s 51 and Mohit Kalyan’s 46, while Dhruv Parashar scored an unbeaten 27. However, Mohammed Irshad’s 3/44 and two wickets each from Awais Ahmed and Zuhaib Zubair restricted the Warriorz to 182/8.
The tournament action continues on Monday, September 21, with Dubai Capitals Development taking on Desert Vipers Development at 7pm. On Tuesday, MI Emirates Development face Gulf Giants Development at 5pm, followed by Sharjah Warriorz Development against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Development at 9pm.
