Free medical treatment extended to over 1.67m patients in KP: Barrister Saif

STAFF REPORTER PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, the revolutionary Sehat Card Plus program continues its successful journey at a rapid pace. During the past one and a half years of the present government, more than 1.67 million patients have received free medical treatment, with a total expenditure of Rs. 57 billion incurred on providing free healthcare facilities to the public. He stated that 276 patients have so far benefitted from transplant and cochlear implant facilities, while free treatment is available in 158 hospitals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 700 hospitals nationwide. Barrister Dr. Saif further said that under Sehat Card Plus, treatments for critical and costly diseases such as kidney and liver transplants and bone marrow transplants are being provided free of cost. He added that through the jwandun Card, free medicines for OPD patients have also been introduced. The free OPD service under the jwandun Card has been launched from District Mardan and will soon be expanded to other districts of the province. He emphasized that Sehat Card Plus is, in the truest sense, a public welfare initiative. The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is fully committed to providing dignified and quality healthcare services to its citizens. Barrister Dr. Saif added that the provincial government has set a new benchmark for public service, and the revolutionary Sehat Card Plus program stands as a guarantee of service, protection, and healing. He said that millions of families across the province are benefiting from free and quality medical treatment through this flagship program.
