Secretary HED Appreciates KMU for Leading in Digital Transformation

Staff Report

PESHAWAR: The Secretary Higher Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Kamran Afridi, appreciated Khyber Medical University (KMU) and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq for taking remarkable steps toward complete digital transformation in the higher education sector. This achievement marks a major milestone as KMU has now fully transitioned to a digital system through the successful implementation of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

The initiative was launched under the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) vision to digitize universities across the country through TallyMarks Consulting (TMC). KMU took the lead by being the first university to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HEC and successfully implemented the ERP system to automate and integrate all major functions of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary HED praised the leadership of Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq and his team for their commitment to innovation and institutional excellence. He stated that the ERP system includes the complete digitization of financial operations (including double-entry system), human resource management, procurement processes, and all student services—from admission to degree issuance. He further added that KMU always takes the lead in implementing such progressive initiatives from the government, setting an example for other universities to follow. This initiative, he added, will greatly enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability, paving the way for a paperless and technology-driven higher education ecosystem in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
