Ambassador Sheikhnur Hassan Pushes for Stronger Pakistan–Somalia Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: H.E. Sheikhnur Mohamed Hassan, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Pakistan, continues to play an active role in advancing the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Somalia. As part of these ongoing efforts, Ambassador Hassan paid an official visit to the Minister of Interior, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Syed Mohsin Naqvi.

During the meeting, both sides held productive discussions on facilitating Pakistani enterprises operating in Somalia and addressing long-standing challenges faced by Somali citizens in Pakistan, particularly issues linked to police registration. Minister Naqvi welcomed the concerns raised and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to easing procedural hurdles. He reiterated the government’s dedication to strengthening cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

Ambassador Hassan thanked the Minister for the warm reception and constructive dialogue. He emphasized Pakistan’s vital role in supporting the historical and strategic partnership between the two countries. Highlighting Somalia’s rapid development, he noted significant opportunities for Pakistani investors in sectors such as minerals, tourism, agriculture, and trade. With global attention increasingly turning toward Africa, enhanced Pakistan–Somalia economic collaboration holds immense potential.

The Ambassador also acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to promote tourism through relaxed visa procedures. He encouraged similar facilitation for Somali nationals traveling for tourism, education, business, or family reasons and welcomed the government’s positive steps toward improving visa and travel processes.

The meeting concluded with a mutual reaffirmation to deepen bilateral ties, expand people-to-people contact, and promote cooperation for the shared benefit of both nations.
