In a nail-biting final, PPC Markhor defeated PPC Qabail to clinch the title. Secretary Information Muhammad Bakhtyar Khan distributed prizes among the players.
Peshawar: PPC Markhor emerged victorious in the thrilling final of the RMI Media Cricket League. Displaying excellent performance in the last over, Markhor chased down the target to defeat PPC Qabail and secure the championship title.Secretary Information and Public Relations Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Bakhtyar Khan graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed awards among the players. UNICEF National Head Ms. Melissa Corkum, Shafiullah Khan, Coordinator Emergency Operations Center for Polio Eradication KP, DG Information Imran Khan, Malik Ismail Khan, officials of the Capital Metropolitan Government, President Peshawar Press Club M. Riaz, President KHUJ Kashif ud din, senior journalist Shamim Shahid, Chairman Sports Committee Irfan Musazai and a large number of journalists were also present.
In his address the chief guest appreciated journalists’ keen interest in sports, stating that alongside professional responsibilities, engaging in sports is essential as it ensures both physical and mental well-being. He emphasized the continuity of such events to provide journalists with more opportunities for healthy activities.
The final was played at the Gymkhana Cricket Ground Peshawar. Batting first, PPC Qabail scored 137 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted overs. Kamran Khan (37), Bilal Afridi (30) and Shahid Afridi (29) were the top scorers.
For Markhor Arshad Yousafzai delivered an impressive bowling spell taking 3 wickets while Qari Gul Rahman claimed two and Rizwan picked up one.
Chasing the target PPC Markhor played with responsibility and achieved the total in the final over with four wickets in hand. Waseem scored a brilliant 53, while Yasir Ali contributed 46 runs, both playing key roles in the team’s victory.
Waseem was named Player of the Match while Yasir Ali won Best Batter of the Tournament and Shahid Afridi was declared Best Bowler.In the end, the chief guest and other dignitaries presented shields and prizes to the players.
