Peshawar:
A seminar titled “Mothers for Peace” was organized by Qadims School of Leadership and Qadims Lumiere School and College under their Peace Education Programme to underscore the vital role mothers play in raising emotionally, mentally, and physically healthy children.

Director Bushra Qadim Hyder shared that Qadims introduced Peace Education as a direct response to rising extremism in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She noted that Qadims remains the only school in the country where peace education is integrated into the mainstream curriculum.

Early years specialist Mrs. Aqsa Aman stressed the importance of early childhood development, psychological wellbeing, and strong mother–child bonding. Renowned psychologist Mrs. Mubarika Bilal spoke about creating emotionally safe environments, building children’s emotional resilience, and fostering peaceful, nurturing homes. Nutritionist and biologist Mrs. Zohra Iqbal highlighted the role of healthy diets, disciplined routines, and lifestyle habits essential for children’s physical and cognitive growth.

Peace educationist Mrs. Bushra Qadim Hyder also discussed ways to identify early signs of depression, anxiety, and potential extremism among youth. She emphasized digital safety, effective communication, conflict resolution at home, and strong parent–child relationships as protective factors against harmful behaviors.

Experts collectively underscored the importance of involved and aware parenting, noting that consistent monitoring, open communication, and collaboration with teachers are critical for a child’s holistic wellbeing. They emphasized that a strong parent–child–teacher bond is essential for building healthy and resilient mindsets.

The seminar concluded with a call to instill positivity, tolerance, acceptance of diversity, and interfaith harmony from an early age to help children grow into peaceful, empathetic, and responsible citizens.
