KOHAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Aftab Alam Advocate paid a detailed visit to the new check dam site in Ziarat Sheikh Allah Dad accompanied by Chairman Tehsil Gumbat Sajid Iqbal and directed the authorities to ensure the project’s completion within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.
During the visit, officials from the irrigation department and technical experts briefed the minister on the project’s scope, construction phases, estimated cost, completion schedule and expected benefits. The briefing highlighted that the check dam would help recharge groundwater levels, ensure adequate water supply for agricultural lands and prevent rainwater wastage during monsoon seasons.
Authorities informed the minister that the project would provide long-term benefits to the local population by improving access to drinking water and strengthening agricultural productivity in the area.
Minister Alam stressed that no compromise would be made on construction standards and said the provincial government was prioritizing public welfare projects, particularly those aimed at enhancing water storage capacity. He termed water conservation an urgent need of the time and directed officials to address local community concerns on a priority basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajid Iqbal said the completion of the check dam would boost agriculture in Ziarat Sheikh Allah Dad and surrounding areas, contributing to local economic stability. He also appreciated the cooperation of the Irrigation Department and district administration in advancing the project.
