Seminar on preventing illegal migration and its impacts on society held

MARDAN: A one-day seminar on preventing illegal migration and its impacts on society was organized under the auspices of the International Centre for all Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). The event was attended by a large number of participants representing the Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) Peshawar, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Immigration and Overseas Employment, the Mardan Chamber of Commerce, and civil society organizations.

The seminar aimed to promote public awareness about safe, orderly, and regular migration. Speakers at the event included Deputy Director FIA Mardan Circle Riyaz Janjua, Deputy Director Public Relations FIA Islamabad Mahmood Ali Khokhar, Assistant Director Protectorate of Emigrants Peshawar Sajid Umar, WSSCM Board Director Haroon Rasheed, President Mardan Chamber of Commerce Haji Muhammad Owais, Provincial General Secretary of Markazi Tanzeem Tajran Zahir Shah, and Shahid Khan.

The speakers highlighted the FIA’s ongoing efforts against human smuggling, public awareness campaigns, and the need to further strengthen inter-agency coordination to promote safe migration. Coordinator Migrant Resource Centre Peshawar, Hamidullah Khan, briefed participants on the role of the MRC and the facilities it provides to support safe and legal migration.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants reaffirmed their commitment to work collectively to promote safe and legal migration and to utilize all available platforms to raise public awareness about the risks associated with illegal migration.
