PESHAWAR: Chief Executive and Dean of the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Professor Dr. Shahkar Ahmed Shah on Tuesday said that PIC has emerged as a model cardiac care institution for patients across Pakistan within a short span of time, bringing pride to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He expressed these views while addressing a special ceremony organized on the completion of five years of the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, held in honor of health reporters from print, electronic, and digital media. The event focused on the institute’s five-year performance, future plans, and the importance of responsible health journalism.
Professor Dr. Shahkar Ahmed Shah presented a comprehensive presentation on PIC’s five-year performance, highlighting major achievements, modern medical facilities, successful treatments, advanced equipment, patient-friendly services, and the overall growth of the institute.
He also shed light on key challenges and outlined the future strategy of the institution.
Earlier, PIC Spokesperson Riffat Anjum and Hospital Director Qazi Sadullah welcomed the media representatives and acknowledged the constructive and responsible role of the media in health reporting.
Later, Hospital Director Qazi Sadullah and Medical Director Dr. Ali Raza accompanied journalists on a visit to various departments of the hospital, where they were briefed about state-of-the-art facilities, wards, cath labs, and other important units available for patients.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, honorary certificates were distributed among health reporters in recognition of their services in promoting health awareness and supporting PIC’s mission.
Speaking on behalf of the journalists, Irfan Musazai thanked the PIC management for hosting the event and termed it a positive and encouraging initiative for the journalistic community. He expressed hope that collaboration between PIC and the media would continue in the same spirit in the future.
