PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, announced that the provincial cabinet has approved financial assistance for owners of shops, rickshaws, petrol pumps, vehicles, water mills, and factories affected by the 2025 floods in Buner and other parts of the province.

The minister stated that the initiative aims to compensate flood-affected families and help them resume their livelihoods after the calamity. He recalled that the devastating floods, caused by a cloudburst in August 2025, resulted in significant human and material losses in Buner.

He further noted that, upon his request, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had enhanced compensation for damaged houses and loss of lives during his visit to Buner. Previously, compensation did not cover rickshaws, vehicles, petrol pumps, water mills, shops, and marble factories; the provincial government has now approved financial support for these remaining categories as well.
