“Political intolerance among federal and Punjab ministers has reached its peak,” SACM
Times Report
PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, while reacting to recent political statements made against the provincial government, said that individuals holding constitutional offices must uphold the Constitution instead of playing political roles. He said that constitutional positions demand serving as a source of harmony and stability between the federation and the provinces, rather than fueling political confrontation.
He stated that continuous political rhetoric against the elected provincial government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf reflects nothing but political frustration. The allegations leveled against the provincial government and the party are baseless, fabricated, and contrary to facts.
Shafi Jan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the only province where a government has been formed on the basis of a genuine public mandate, while in other provinces governments have been imposed against the will of the people. A government established through the people’s mandate cannot be weakened through political statements or pressure.
He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, while remaining within the constitutional framework, is working day and night for public welfare, transparent governance, and improved governance standards. Improving law and order, ensuring transparency, and implementing welfare initiatives are among the top priorities of the provincial government, and its performance has also received recognition at the international level.
The Special Assistant clarified that the authority to decide the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly rests with the founding Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, and that the PTI founder does not require any NRO. He added that the whole world knows who took NROs in the past.
Meanwhile, reacting to the statements of Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Maryam Aurangzeb, Shafi Jan said that political intolerance among federal and Punjab ministers has reached alarming levels. He alleged that the so-called federal and Punjab governments have targeted Bushra Bibi and other women through false cases as part of political victimization.
He said that the Punjab government has a long history of oppression and brutality against women of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Questioning the conduct of the authorities, he asked whether violence against women in Punjab and dragging them on the streets is not a blatant violation of societal values. He further questioned what kind of civilized society allows the use of water cannons against Imran Khan’s sisters and other women.
Shafi Jan concluded by saying that making baseless allegations has become the hallmark of PML-N leaders, and that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will continue to firmly resist the so-called fake rulers imposed on the people against their will.
