Javed Alam Odho Assumes Charge as 86th Inspector General of Police Sindh

Javed Alam Odho on Wednesday took charge as the 86th Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh following a notification issued by the Federal Government. Upon his arrival at the Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi, the newly appointed IGP was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Sindh Police.

The IGP also visited the Sindh Police Martyrs’ Memorial, where he laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha. Paying tribute to the martyrs, he acknowledged their supreme sacrifices and prayed for the elevation of their ranks. After that, IGP Odho met senior police officers at the CPO. Prior to his appointment as IGP Sindh, Javed Alam Odho had served twice as Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi.

Later, IGP Sindh called on Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah. The Chief Secretary congratulated him on assuming the charge and assured him of the Sindh Government’s full cooperation. The meeting focused on further improving police training, facilities and welfare. The Chief Secretary appreciated the role of the police in maintaining peace and stability in the province, while IGP Odho reiterated his commitment to promoting effective and people-friendly policing across Sindh.

The newly appointed IGP also met Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, who extended best wishes on his assumption of office. The Chief Minister emphasized that maintaining law and order must remain the top priority of the Sindh Police. He directed that operations against criminals in the katcha areas should continue with full force and that efforts to eliminate street crime in Karachi be further intensified.
Emphasizing modernization, Chief Minister Sindh instructed that the mission to modernize the Sindh Police should be carried forward, with special attention to making the Safe City projects more effective. He further directed that ongoing operations against narcotics be accelerated.
