Charsadda: At least six people were killed and five others injured when the roof of a room collapsed in a house in Shabqadar, Charsadda, early Sunday morning.
According to police and Rescue 1122, the incident occurred at around 4:00 am at a house where a wedding ceremony was being held. Most of the victims were guests who had arrived from Peshawar and Khyber Tirah to attend the wedding.
Rescue workers and locals immediately started rescue operations and pulled the victims out from the rubble. The bodies and injured persons were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Shabqadar.
Rescue 1122 said that the deceased include five children and one woman. The victims were identified as three-year-old Musaffa daughter of Shiraz, twelve-year-old Saima daughter of Rais, twenty-five-year-old Naeeda wife of Amroz, five-year-old Maryam, two-year-old Zuneisha, and fourteen-year-old Saniya daughter of Amroz.
The injured include forty-five-year-old Daulat Bibi wife of Hakeem, seventeen-year-old Yamna daughter of Fazal Dawood, seventeen-year-old Aamna daughter of Fazal Dawood, six-year-old Hasba daughter of Adnan, and thirty-year-old Naeema wife of Shiraz.
Police said the house was old and the roof was in poor condition. After the incident, wedding celebrations were stopped and a wave of grief spread across the area. Authorities have begun an initial investigation into the incident.
