The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Arshad Ayub Khan, has directed officials to ensure the completion of the digitization system in the Education Department so that improvements can be made in the quality of education and other matters, while also ensuring transparency. He also instructed authorities to take effective measures to enhance performance at the district and directorate levels and said that the people of the province should visibly see progress toward improvement in the department.
He issued these directives during a briefing meeting held on Tuesday at the Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education in Peshawar. The meeting was attended by Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid Khan, Chief Planning Officer Zainullah, Director Elementary and Secondary Education Naghmana Sardar, district education officers, and other relevant officials.
On this occasion, the Director of Elementary and Secondary Education gave a detailed briefing to the provincial minister on various departmental matters, including steps taken to achieve targets, progress on educational projects, and the future course of action.
While addressing the meeting, the provincial minister directed district education officers to further improve district-level service delivery and to immediately identify and address any shortages in facilities. He strictly instructed all circle education officers to resolve issues related to the Education Department in their respective districts in a timely manner. He stated that if teachers or departmental staff come to their offices for the resolution of issues, the relevant officers will be held accountable.
He ordered the immediate suspension of the procurement process for students’ bags and stationery and directed that all future tendering be carried out through e-bidding. He further directed that the Public Complaint Cell portal at the directorate level be made functional and that legitimate public grievances be resolved in accordance with the law.
The minister said that retirement-related matters should be resolved at the district level within seven days and that an e-retirement system should be introduced under the digital framework. He instructed officers to pay special attention to the Planning and Development Wing, personally supervise and monitor construction work and other matters across the province, and work collectively as a team.
Similarly, education department litigation cases should be resolved on merit, and transparency should be ensured in all matters. He emphasized the timely implementation and facilitation of online action management, EATA scholarships, appointments of PTC teachers, and Class-IV recruitments.
He said that approximately 6,000 teachers will be recruited for a period of five months in summer zone areas. The provincial minister also directed that residential facilities be provided at the district level for both male and female officers.
He instructed officers to listen to public issues online via Facebook on a daily basis from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and ensure their resolution. He advised officers to adopt a polite attitude toward the public and resolve legitimate issues promptly, stressing that the culture of recommendations must be eliminated.
