Hindu Kush Winter Sports Festival 2026 Concludes; Tirchmir Strikers Clinch Double Ice Hockey Titles

Peshawar: The Hindu Kush Winter Sports Festival 2026, organized by the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the high and beautiful area of ​​Harchan, Laspur in the Chitral Valley, has concluded successfully. In the ice hockey competitions of the festival, Tirchmir Strikers performed brilliantly and won trophies in both the men’s and women’s categories. The men’s final was played between Saraya Shandur and Tirchmir Strikers, in which Tirchmir Strikers won by presenting excellent sportsmanship. Similarly, in the women’s final, the Trichmir Strikers team defeated Saraya Shandur A to become champions. The special guests of the closing ceremony were Secretary Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Asif and Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider, who distributed prizes among the players. Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Muhammad Imran, District Sports Officer Miss Shahnaz, Khalid Khan, Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Assistant Director Finance Shah Faisal and other important personalities were also present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Sports Muhammad Asif and DG Sports Tashfeen Haider said that Pakistan, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has not only suitable weather but also natural areas and talented players for organizing winter and snow sports. He said that the provincial government is taking serious steps to promote regional, traditional and snow sports along with other sports and this festival is a link in this chain. He further said that facilities are being provided to male and female athletes from all districts of the province on an equal basis so that sports talent can be further developed. It should be noted that a total of 14 teams participated in the ice hockey competitions of the Hindu Kush Winter Sports Festival 2026, including 8 men’s and 6 women’s teams.
