JAMRUD District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber, Waqar Ahmad, visited Jamrud Press Club, where he was welcomed by the newly elected President Zahir Shah Afridi and General Secretary Shahzad Afridi. The DPO congratulated the new cabinet and discussed the overall performance of Khyber Police, the law and order situation, and ongoing initiatives with the journalists.
During his address, DPO Waqar Ahmad emphasized the crucial role of journalists and police in maintaining societal harmony. He stated that responsible journalism is essential for establishing peace in the region and appreciated the journalists’ efforts in highlighting crimes and issues through their reporting.
The DPO highlighted that Khyber Police is continuously working to eradicate drug trafficking and crime, warning criminals to refrain from illegal activities or face strict action. He mentioned that the police have taken effective measures against drug traffickers and their gangs, with ongoing operations.
He also discussed initiatives to improve the police system in Khyber, including the construction of new police stations and checkpoints, to better address public issues. DPO Waqar Ahmad praised the sacrifices made by Khyber Police and the public in combating terrorism and stressed that ensuring public safety and justice is the top priority of the police.
He urged the public to cooperate with the police in eliminating social evils like firing in weddings and other events, underage driving, and other harmful practices to make Khyber a peaceful district.
The DPO expressed his best wishes for the new cabinet of Jamrud Press Club, commending journalists’ sacrifices and advocating for mutual cooperation to promote positive journalism, development, and crime eradication in the region.
