HANGU: District authorities in Hangu reviewed in detail the preparations for the upcoming National Immunisation Days (NIDs) scheduled for February 2026, focusing on security planning, low-performing areas and inter-agency coordination to ensure a successful polio campaign.
The meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee (DPEC) was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Naseer Khan and attended by the officials from the district administration, health department, police, law enforcement agencies as well as global and local partner organisations.
Officials assessed the readiness for the forthcoming campaign and reviewed the outcomes of previous polio drives, identifying key operational challenges and measures to address them. Special attention was given to security-sensitive union councils, where authorities agreed to adopt tailored strategies to guarantee safe and uninterrupted access for vaccination teams.
The committee also decided on targeted interventions, strengthened micro-planning and stricter monitoring to improve performance in low-performing union councils. Routine immunisation (EPI) coverage during 2025 and Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) surveillance were also reviewed as part of broader efforts to strengthen the district’s immunisation system.
Naseer Khan stressed the importance of close coordination among all stakeholders, saying effective collaboration and strong field-level execution were critical to the success of the February 2026 campaign. He said the district administration, health department and security agencies would work jointly to achieve the goal of a polio-free Pakistan, warning that lapses would not be tolerated.
The meeting ended with a pledge to step up anti-polio efforts across Hangu district and ensure vaccination drops reach every eligible child.
