KOHAT: The Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Kohat has released its annual performance report for the year 2025, highlighting significant achievements in sanitation, water supply, and infrastructure development across the city.
According to the report, WSSC Kohat efficiently cleaned six urban areas and the Kohat Development Authority (KDA) area, disposed of 33,250 tons of garbage, and ensured uninterrupted water supply to residents. During 2025, a total of 1,445 million gallons of clean water was supplied to the people of Kohat. Additionally, 455,921 meters of drains were cleaned during the year.
The report further states that WSSC Kohat received 4,999 complaints through its 1334 helpline related to cleanliness and water supply, out of which 4,034 complaints were successfully resolved, reflecting improved service delivery and responsiveness.
Under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) with the support of the Asian Development Bank, 70 percent construction work on the Green Space Project and the Women Business Development Center at Kohat Sports Complex has been completed. Meanwhile, work on the sewage treatment plant and water supply network is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed soon.
During 2025, under the Water Supply Network Project, approximately 247 kilometers of new pipelines out of a total 350 kilometers were laid to replace old and rusted pipelines, while work continues swiftly on the remaining sections. Significant progress has also been made on the sewage treatment plant to improve the drainage system in Kotal Township. To enhance sewerage facilities, 2,600 manholes and 3,200 house chambers were installed across the city.
The report also highlights the construction of 10 new tube wells and re-boring of 6 tube wells, with 13 tube wells already repaired. In addition, four new overhead reservoirs are under construction, while five old reservoirs are being repaired and rehabilitated.
To address energy challenges and reduce reliance on electricity amid load shedding, WSSC Kohat initiated the solarization of 34 tube wells under the KPCIP, with 22 tube wells already converted to solar power.
In December 2025, WSSC Kohat, in collaboration with UNICEF and the Akhtar Hameed Foundation, successfully launched a project to establish an Integrated Resource Recovery Center, which will produce five tons of organic fertilizer daily through waste recycling.
Furthermore, 160 kanals of land have been acquired in the Mohammadzai area for the construction of a modern landfill site, where development work is expected to commence soon. With UNICEF’s financial support, repair and rehabilitation of the recycling plant building in Mohammadzai, along with the provision of modern machinery, will also begin shortly.
The report underscores WSSC Kohat’s commitment to providing improved civic facilities at the doorstep of citizens and strengthening sustainable urban services in the district.
