An awareness seminar on Islamic banking was organized in Charsadda

Charsadda: An awareness seminar on Islamic banking was organized in Charsadda under the auspices of Meezan Bank. The event was attended by Tehsil Nazim Charsadda Mufti Abdul Rauf Shakir, TMO Haq Nawaz Gandapur, religious scholars, members of the business community, banking experts, and a large number of citizens.

Addressing the seminar, Meezan Islamic Banking’s Regional Shariah Advisor, Mufti Irfan Zaman, said that the State Bank of Pakistan reviews the performance and progress of Islamic banking every year. He stated that Meezan Bank has taken practical steps towards eliminating the interest-based economy, and very soon the entire banking system of the country will shift towards Islamic banking. He added that interest causes severe harm to society, whereas the implementation of Islamic banking has brought positive and revolutionary changes. He noted that the decisions of the Shariah Appellate Bench have further strengthened this process. He also gave a detailed explanation of Islamic banking schemes, including car financing and home financing, in the light of Shariah principles.

Renowned religious scholar and Tehsil Council Nazim Charsadda, Mufti Abdul Rauf Shakir, in his address said that the business community should prioritize the distinction between halal and haram rather than focusing solely on profit. He stated that religious scholars have played a significant role in the elimination of the interest-based system and have provided guidance in shaping the banking system in accordance with Islamic principles, as a result of which the national economy is becoming stable on Islamic lines. He further added that the public is now showing increasing interest in Islamic banking.

Speaking on the occasion, Meezan Bank Charsadda Branch Manager, Falak Niaz, said that Meezan Bank has more than 1,100 branches across the country, all of which are providing fully Islamic banking services, and that account holders have complete confidence in Meezan Bank. He informed the audience that Meezan Bank has won the Best Bank Award for the third consecutive time, which is clear evidence of customers’ trust. He added that Meezan Bank has introduced various Islamic schemes for public convenience and will continue to provide quality services in the future.

At the end of the seminar, a question-and-answer session was also held. Participants appreciated the organization of the Islamic banking awareness program and termed it an important need of the time.
