PTI’s Policy on Terrorism Clear Since Day One: Shafi Jan

Staff Reporter

PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, while reacting to the statement of Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, said that the allegations leveled against the provincial government are completely baseless, contrary to facts, and driven by political malice.

He said that a continuous and organized propaganda campaign is being run against the young Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, by so-called and fake ministers of the federal and Punjab governments, which is highly condemnable. At times, unsuccessful attempts are made to link the Chief Minister with Afghanistan, and at other times with terrorists, he added.

Shafi Jan stated that Uzma Bukhari, Ikhtiar Wali, Talal Chaudhry, and Atta Tarar appear to have been formally assigned the task of leveling allegations against the provincial government. By appearing on the media daily, they are trying to mislead the public and ridicule the public mandate given to the elected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government. However, he emphasized that the nation is fully aware and will not be deceived by such tactics.

He said that the federal government, imposed through Form 47, has hijacked parliament, but any further harassment of the elected provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will not be tolerated. He urged the federal government to stop harassing the provincial government and said that fake ministers have made politics of allegations their sole agenda instead of competing in the court of the public.

Highlighting efforts to improve law and order, Shafi Jan said that peace jirgas against terrorism have been organized in every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also convened a grand peace jirga in the Provincial Assembly for the establishment of peace, in which all stakeholders, including the opposition, participated. A consensus was reached on 15 points regarding law and order, and the signed decisions are available on record.

He further stated that the provincial government has approved Rs 31 billion to enhance the capacity of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch to ensure sustainable peace and security. Reiterating PTI’s stance, he said that the party’s policy on terrorism has been clear since day one, and practical and concrete steps are being taken to eliminate terrorism.

Shafi Jan concluded by reaffirming that the provincial government is fully committed to protecting the lives and property of the people and that all available resources are being utilized to maintain peace and stability in the province.
