Bajaur: Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned the bomb blast at the residence of Maulana Waheed Gul, terming it a direct attack on the law and order situation. Addressing a press conference at Maulana Waheed Gul’s hujra at the site of the blast, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Provincial Ameer and former provincial minister, Inayatullah Khan, demanded that the incident should not be treated as an ordinary case but be taken as a test case, with transparent and impartial investigations conducted to bring the real perpetrators to justice.
Inayatullah Khan said that such incidents are attempts to spread fear and panic among the public and to sabotage peace in the tribal districts, which cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. He stressed that the government must move beyond mere statements and take practical measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
While speaking about the prevailing security situation in the tribal districts, the provincial Ameer said that no operation could be carried out in any area without the consent of the PTI-led provincial government. He maintained that the ongoing operations in the tribal districts are being conducted with the approval and consultation of the provincial government, therefore the government cannot absolve itself of responsibility.
He further stated that a comprehensive strategy, an effective intelligence system, and the restoration of public confidence are essential to eliminate militancy and unrest. Jamaat-e-Islami will support every step taken for the establishment of peace and the protection of innocent citizens; however, it will oppose the excessive use of force and policies that alienate the public.
During the press conference, Jamaat-e-Islami’s district Ameer Maulana Waheed Gul, Haji Sardar Khan, Professor Abdul Raqeeb, and party workers were also present. They expressed deep sorrow and concern over the incident and announced complete solidarity with the affected family.
