Two business premises sealed in D.I. Khan for violation of FBR POS rules

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Inland Revenue authorities on Monday sealed two business premises in Dera Ismail Khan for violating the Federal Board of Revenue’s Point of Sale (POS) regulations, officials said.

The enforcement action was carried out on the directions of the Chief Commissioner, Regional Tax Office (RTO) Peshawar, the Commissioner Inland Revenue and the Additional Commissioner Inland Revenue, D.I. Khan.

According to officials, the action was taken against business units which, despite being integrated with the FBR’s POS system, were not issuing POS invoices to customers, a requirement under the applicable tax laws. Following confirmation of non-compliance, the premises were sealed by the field team.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Malik Riaz, Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue (DCIR), Unit-I, D.I. Khan, an official statement said.

Tax authorities maintained that the POS system had been introduced to ensure transparency in sales reporting, curb tax evasion and safeguard government revenue. Failure to issue POS invoices undermines tax compliance and attracts enforcement action under the law.

Officials of FBR’s RTO Peshawar reiterated that strict action would continue against businesses found violating POS regulations, adding that compliance with tax laws was mandatory and no commercial entity would be allowed to operate outside the legal framework.

The FBR also urged traders and business owners to ensure full compliance with POS requirements and issue mandatory invoices to consumers to avoid penalties and legal action.
