Times Report

MOSCOW: Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, has expressed serious concern over the escalating border conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In a statement issued on March 4, 2026, she said Russia is alarmed by reports of ongoing fighting along the Afghan-Pakistani border. According to available information, recent days have witnessed armed clashes involving aircraft and heavy weaponry across large stretches of the border region, particularly in areas inhabited by Pashtun tribes.

She noted that casualties have been reported on both sides, with the civilian population bearing the brunt of the violence. Particular concern was expressed for Afghan refugees who had recently returned from neighboring Pakistan and Iran and are now caught in the renewed hostilities.

❗️The Russian Foreign Ministry once again called on Kabul and Islamabad to exercise restraint, avoid further military confrontation, and resolve their differences through dialogue grounded in mutual respect and constructive engagement.
