PESHAWAR: The Hope Ramadan Sports Gala at the Peshawar Press Club remained lively even on the scheduled break day as ISPR Sector Commander Brigadier Asif Jahangir Raja attended the event as a special guest on Sunday.
Brigadier Asif Jahangir Raja visited the Peshawar Press Club along with other ISPR officers and participated in the sports activities. On the occasion, Peshawar Press Club President M. Riaz, Vice President Ziaul Haq, Sports Committee Chairman Kashifuddin Syed, and several senior journalists were also present.
The chief guest also played an exhibition badminton match with journalists, which was warmly appreciated by the participants.
Speaking informally during the visit, Brigadier Asif Jahangir Raja said that journalism is an important pillar of society and journalists continue to perform their duties with dedication and courage despite various challenges. He appreciated the initiative of organizing a sports gala for journalists during the holy month of Ramadan, saying such activities not only provide recreation but also promote harmony and healthy engagement among media professionals.
He further assured that, on the directions of the Director General ISPR, full cooperation would be extended to the Peshawar Press Club for organizing sports events and other positive activities in the future.
Earlier, Peshawar Press Club President M. Riaz welcomed the ISPR Sector Commander and his team, stating that around 300 journalists are participating in six different games including badminton, table tennis, snooker, carrom board, ludo, and chess in the Ramadan Sports Gala organized in collaboration with the social organization Hope.
He said the event provides an opportunity for working journalists to relax and enjoy healthy recreational activities amid the pressures of their professional responsibilities.
