Additional IG Azad Khan Briefed on Citywide Traffic Operations and Challenges

Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan, visited the DIG Traffic Office where he was briefed on traffic management operations across the city, ongoing reforms and the key challenges faced by the Traffic Police.

The briefing was given by the DIG Traffic Karachi, who highlighted measures being undertaken to improve traffic flow, strengthen enforcement and enhance road safety. Senior officers of the Traffic Police were also present during the visit.

A central focus of the briefing was the implementation of the modern Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS). Under this system, traffic violations are monitored through AI-based cameras, digital surveillance and e-challans, ensuring transparent and unbiased enforcement of traffic laws.

Karachi’s E-Challan System officially became operational on October 27, 2025, under the Safe City Program. The initiative aims to fully digitize the traffic enforcement process through smart monitoring and artificial intelligence.

The DIG Traffic noted that the integration of TRACS with the E-Challan System has strengthened compliance with traffic regulations by ensuring fair and consistent enforcement.

Commending the efforts of the Traffic Police, Additional IG Azad Khan stressed the importance of effectively utilizing modern technology and available resources to further improve traffic discipline. He emphasized that systems like TRACS are playing a vital role in addressing Karachi’s traffic challenges and directed officials to expand their scope to achieve more comprehensive citywide coverage.
