Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil Appointed Federal Secretary for Information & Broadcasting

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has approved the appointment of senior Information Ministry officer Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil as the new Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, and a formal notification has been issued in this regard.

Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil previously served as Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Over his extensive career, he has held several key positions, including Director General PID Peshawar and Press Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo, Japan. He has also served in important roles within the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications, PEMRA, Information Service Academy, and the Press Information Department.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conducted interviews with senior officials Tariq Khan, Arshad Munir, Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil, Ms. Imrana Wazir, and Saeed Ahmed Sheikh. Following the evaluation, Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil was shortlisted and selected for the top administrative position.

According to the Ministry of Information, the appointment aims to ensure administrative and policy continuity, while further strengthening the government’s communication framework.
