BoK, Commerzbank Explore Trade Finance Cooperation

KARACHI: Bank of Khyber (BoK) recently hosted a delegation from Commerzbank AG, Germany, at its Treasury Office located at BRR Tower, Karachi. The engagement aimed at reinforcing the long-standing correspondent banking relationship between the two institutions while exploring avenues for enhanced trade and financial collaboration.

BoK’s Group Head Treasury & Financial Institutions, Salman Ahmed Usmani, led the meeting with Commerzbank representatives, including Hartmut Skok, Director FI Asia, and Yousuf Bashir, Country Representative Office Pakistan. The meeting was also attended by BoK’s Financial Institutions team, comprising Aniq Ahmed, Head of FI, and Ammar Munir, Unit Head FI.

During the discussions, Salman Ahmed Usmani highlighted Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic indicators and the banking sector’s gradual shift towards Islamic banking, outlining BoK’s strategic progress in this transition. Hartmut Skok shared insights on the European financial landscape and reaffirmed Commerzbank’s commitment to supporting BoK and its clients, particularly in facilitating business opportunities in Germany and strengthening international trade corridors.

Both institutions reiterated their shared resolve to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade finance and to promote sustainable, long-term partnerships across Europe and the Far East.
