Challenges Facing Journalism in the Tribal Districts: TUJ Delegation Holds Key Meetings with Bajaur Administration, Assurance of Full Cooperation

Bajaur: A high-level delegation of the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ), led by its President Hasbanullah, held separate meetings with Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali Khan and Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Rafiq Gandapur. The meetings featured detailed and serious discussions on the overall situation in the tribal districts, the challenges being faced, and particularly the issues confronting journalists.
The delegation comprised TUJ President Hasbanullah, General Secretary Muhammad Jamil, Finance Secretary Dildar Hussain, former TUJ President Qazi Fazlullah, Vice President Abuzar Afridi, senior journalist Anwarzada Gulyar, and Fazal Hakim. The delegation apprised the district administration of the difficulties faced during journalistic activities in the tribal areas, including security concerns, access to information, and professional safety.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali Khan lauded the responsible role played by journalists in the difficult and sensitive conditions of the tribal districts, stating that journalists are the eyes and ears of society and play a key role in conveying facts to the public. He assured full cooperation on behalf of the district administration, including strengthening coordination and taking practical steps to resolve the issues faced by journalists.
During the meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Rafiq Gandapur, discussions were also held on the protection of journalists, professional facilities, and institutional coordination. The delegation expressed satisfaction over the administration’s positive response and cooperation, and voiced hope that continued consultation and coordination would lead to tangible progress in addressing the challenges facing journalism in the tribal districts.
In conclusion, the TUJ delegation welcomed the support of the district administration and reaffirmed its commitment that journalists would continue to perform their duties in the public interest with professionalism, impartiality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
