OUR CORRESPONDENT BANNU: Civil and military leadership on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to peace, development and public welfare in Bannu Division, stressing coordinated efforts to meet internal and external challenges. The commitment was made in a Grand Jirga, held at the office of Deputy Commissioner Lakki Marwat, jointly chaired by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 40 Division Major General Mudassir and Commissioner Bannu Division Captain (R) Khalid Mehmood. The meeting was attended by the Regional Police Officer Bannu Range Sajjad Khan, Commander 55 Brigade Brigadier Ali Haider, Deputy Commissioner Lakki Marwat Hameed Ullah Khattak, District Police Officer Nazir Khan, heads of the line departments, senior district officials and a large number of civil and military officers. Discussions focused on strengthening law and order, ensuring timely completion of development schemes, improving public service delivery and enhancing overall administrative efficiency. The deputy commissioner briefed on the district administration’s performance, while the RPO updated participants on recent policing measures. Major General Mudassir said the region faces serious internal and external challenges but civil and military institutions remain committed to stability and public service. He urged strict implementation of the agreed roadmap so that the dividends of peace, development and prosperity reach the public directly. Commissioner Khalid Mehmood praised the officers in Bannu Division as a model team and directed all the departments to channel their energies into service delivery, timely development goals and providing relief to the citizens. “This teamwork must be extended to other districts to end long-standing deprivations across the region,” he concluded. RPO Sajjad Khan highlighted the police cooperation with other institutions in crime prevention and peace efforts, calling sacrifices by the force and public support the cornerstone of stability. He pledged that this commitment will continue with full vigor. The meeting ended with a decision that civil and military institutions will further strengthen coordination to accelerate service delivery, expedite development projects and ensure that the benefits of peace and welfare initiatives reach the people swiftly and visibly.
